Book excerpt: My journey of writing this book started with a conversation I had with my mother. Her words inspired me to tell the compelling stories of how I, and many other African American executives work and endure challenges in corporate America. She helped me to realize that those of us who are overwhelmed on this corporate journey can share in the hope that is brought to life in this book's message. I want to share a message of love for everyone in the world no matter the race or gender. Although certain aspects of this book may seem harsh to some, I come from a place of love. Love calls out wrong and yearns to make things right. Love calls out hurt and yearns to bring healing. Love calls all people from the darkness into the light. We give love without expectation, and love is the only way that we will make this world a better place for our children. This book was born from love, and I want to give a measure of love to each person who reads the words within it.
